Which year to buy

Too new to judge: 2026. Give a new year a year or two of owner reports.

Bar height: serious owner complaints to NHTSA for that year per car on the road, against this model's usual year.

2013CAREFULSerious complaints 2.1× usual, mostly fuel system and air bags Extended coverage

72 serious complaints of 82, the most about fuel system (46) and air bags (10); per car on the road, 2.1× this model's usual year.

What owners report

“When the car is half full or over with gas whether parked inside or out, there must be leaking because the fuel smell in garage is extremely strong and worried about a fire. The smell is coming from the drivers side forward wheel well. Even outside it smell super strong! Please advise, very concerned..”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the fuel system, Sep 2020

“Passenger side air bag module will not arm the air bag system when any person sits in the seat. Have made multiple attempts to purchase the air bag presence module since June of 2022. Once with dealer, could not get the part, and two more times online.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the air bags, Jan 2023

Fixes and extended coverage

  • Extended coverage On some 2005-2013 model year Chevrolet Corvette vehicles equipped with a manual transmission (RPO MM6, MZ6, MH3 or ME2), the clutch system may fail if unapproved fluids are used to service the system or if a high-pressure pulse occurs during a clutch self-adjustment event. 14717 - Special Coverage. (GCUS-9-832, Sep 2015)
  • Extended coverage When the seat is moved forward or back, the connector may be dragged along the carpet, pulling terminals loose or pulling the connector apart. Special Coverage. (15643, Apr 2016)
  • Extended coverage Some vehicles may have a condition where a fuel odor is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank with fuel gauge level above 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the left-hand fuel pump module flange. 15682 - Special Coverage. (GCUS-9-2526, Jul 2016)
  • Repair program After the wire is repeatedly bent, it can fracture and separate. Dealers are to install a jumper wire. (14203, Dec 2014)

From the manufacturer's bulletins filed with NHTSA. A dealer can look up whether a car has had the work done or is still covered.

Owner complaints are unverified reports to NHTSA, counted as filed: older years have had longer to collect them and sales aren't adjusted for, so see Which year to buy for a fair comparison. Most-reported problem: the component named in the most complaints that year. Sources: EPA, NHTSA, Apple.
