Which year to buy

Too new to judge: 2026. Give a new year a year or two of owner reports.

Bar height: serious owner complaints to NHTSA for that year per car on the road, against this model's usual year.

2010CAREFULSerious complaints 1.8× usual, mostly fuel system and air bags Extended coverage

76 serious complaints of 84, the most about fuel system (44) and air bags (14); per car on the road, 1.8× this model's usual year.

What owners report

“I have a 2010 corvette grand sport with 46000 miles that has strong gas fumes coming from the drivers side by the gas tank while parked in the garage. Even after sitting for 2 days the gas smell didn't go away. I took the car into chevrolet and they replaced the gas tank and the fuel pump on the drivers side because it was leaking.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the fuel system, Oct 2015

“From time to time the air bag light comes on and stays on. It will go off if I move the driver's seat back and forth a little. I have taken it to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong even after taking the driver's seat out and completely re-installing it.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the air bags, Feb 2015

Fixes and extended coverage

  • Extended coverage When the seat is moved forward or back, the connector may be dragged along the carpet, pulling terminals loose or pulling the connector apart. Special Coverage. (15643, Apr 2016)
  • Extended coverage Some vehicles may have a condition where a fuel odor is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank with fuel gauge level above 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates due to a leak path in the left-hand fuel pump module flange. 15682 - Special Coverage. (GCUS-9-2526, Jul 2016)
  • Extended coverage On some 2005-2013 model year Chevrolet Corvette vehicles equipped with a manual transmission (RPO MM6, MZ6, MH3 or ME2), the clutch system may fail if unapproved fluids are used to service the system or if a high-pressure pulse occurs during a clutch self-adjustment event. 14717 - Special Coverage. (GCUS-9-832, Sep 2015)
  • Repair program Certain 2008-2010 model year General Motors vehicles have a performance issue with their OnStar modules that could impact the vehicle's battery life. Dealers are to remove the fuse for the OnStar module to reset it. (14648, Feb 2015)
  • Repair program This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Diagnostic Trouble Code B101D stored in Telematics Communication Interface Control Module. (PIT5236G, Mar 2016)
  • Repair program After the wire is repeatedly bent, it can fracture and separate. Dealers are to install a jumper wire. (14203, Dec 2014)

From the manufacturer's bulletins filed with NHTSA. A dealer can look up whether a car has had the work done or is still covered.
