Privacy policy

Effective October 5, 2026.

Model Year Matters (modelyearmatters.com) is a car research site. You can use all of it without an account, and we don't ask for your name, email or any other personal information.

What we collect

• Server logs. Like most websites, our web server records each request: your IP address, the page asked for, the time, and your browser's user-agent string. We use these only to keep the site running and secure, and don't keep them longer than we need for that.
• No cookies or tracking of our own. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts today.
• Email. If you write to us, we use your address and message only to reply.

Third parties

• YouTube. Some pages embed our videos using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). If you play a video, YouTube may set cookies and collect data under Google's privacy policy.
• Links to other sites. Links to manufacturers, NHTSA, listing sites and others take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
• Affiliate links. Some links may be affiliate links. If you click one, the site you arrive at or its affiliate network may set a cookie so a purchase or sign-up can be credited to us. We don't receive your personal information from them.

If we add advertising or analytics, we'll update this policy first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent.

Children

The site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices

Since we don't keep personal information beyond the short-lived server logs, there's usually nothing to access or delete, but you can ask us about any data relating to you at hello@modelyearmatters.com.

We'll post any changes here and update the effective date above.
