Which year to buy

Too new to judge: 2026. Give a new year a year or two of owner reports.

Bar height: serious owner complaints to NHTSA for that year per car on the road, against this model's usual year.

2014GOOD BUYSerious complaints 0.8× usual Extended coverage

34 serious complaints of 45, the most about fuel system (11) and engine (10); per car on the road, 0.8× this model's usual year. 2 recalls.

What owners report

“The glow plug light came on and off and the vehicle completely lose acceleration (no power) on the freeway during normal driving. This is the second time that this happens to me. The first time that it happened in june of 2020, the recall was done on by audi dealer assuming that the problem would go away, but it came back.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the fuel system, Jul 2020

“I have a 2014 audi q7 tdi and have just had the diesel gate recall fix to improve emissions. The fix has reduced mpg's and significant power to my car. I was told the car would only lose about 2mpg but it's more like 4-5mpg. The power loss is significant and makes the car dangerous to drive especially when pulling out into traffic.”
