Which year to buy

Too new to judge: 2026. Give a new year a year or two of owner reports.

Bar height: serious owner complaints to NHTSA for that year per car on the road, against this model's usual year.

2014GOOD BUYSerious complaints 0.5× usual Extended coverage

134 serious complaints of 171, the most about steering (38) and power train (27); per car on the road, 0.5× this model's usual year. 9 recalls.

What owners report

“While making a left hand turn at slow speed, steering locked and the wheel had to be forced back the other direction, barely avoiding a tree. Car makes intermittent but considerable noise/rubbing while turning (noise lasts about 2 seconds). Took it to dealership today (proctor acura) and dealership could find no issues with steering.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the steering, Jan 2015

“My 2014 Acura MDX had the same issue that it is currently being recalled (26V-365) except this happened to the front control arms. In August of 2024 I had to replace both the front lower control arms because the bushings were splitting.”

An owner's complaint to NHTSA about the power train, Oct 2026
